Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF)

https://www.cvbf.net/

Consorzio per Valutazioni Biologiche e Farmacologiche (CVBF) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2000 with the mission to perform innovative research initiatives in the European scenario and in particular to enhance paediatric research from drug discovery and early development to medicines formulations and clinical phases.
CVBF has offices in Italy (Pavia and Bari) and in Albania (Tirana), where a branch office was opened in 2015 to support academia and pharmaceutical companies willing to conduct clinical research in this Country. All activities are carried out in partnership with its members: University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, Gianni Benzi Pharmacological Research Foundation, TEDDY – European Network of Excellence for Paediatric Research and Mediterranea Associazione per lo Sviluppo Locale.
CVBF supports adequate policies pushing towards higher scientific, regulatory, ethical and societal standards for a better implementation of health systems and allocation of resources. CVBF activities are organised within two organisational areas Development&Networking and Clinical Research.
Many activities are conducted in the context of EU funded projects and are focused on the development and application of innovative methodologies in preclinical and clinical research for small populations (e.g., rare diseases, paediatrics), as well as the management of interventional, non-interventional, health technology assessment and pharmacoeconomic studies, and disease registries. CVBF is Coordinator of EPTRI, the European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure proposed to accelerate and expand the paediatric drug discovery and development processes by focusing on basic and preclinical research methods and taking into account the continuous ontogeny induced variability in drug disposition, disease targets and diseases biomarkers.

EPTRI will provide structural support to researchers and access to three types of services:

Integrated Services, that are services provided by research units (RUs) grouped in ad hoc Thematic Research Platforms (Paediatric Medicines Discovery, Paediatric Biomarkers and Biosamples, Developmental Pharmacology, Paediatric Medicines Formulations). Additionally, other platforms are foreseen in the future regarding Medical Devices, Placental Research and Advanced Therapy, following the concrete interest shown during the EPTRI surveys.

Centralised Services, that are services provided at a central level to support users in accelerating the translation from drug discovery to clinical use.

Common Services, that are services that will be performed in collaboration with other ESFRI RIs or Paeditric Research Initiatives.
