Modular Multilevel converters for renewable energy, smart grids, e-transportation and industry

DigiPower is a specialist in low and high power Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC), the next generation power converters for renewable energy systems, smart grids (static compensators, power factor controllers, smart transformers, ultra-fast recharging stations), drives for industry and e-transportation. MMC can work as inverter, active rectifier, or back-to-back, moreover, they are intrinsically fault-tolerant. The higher the number of levels the better the quality of the output and efficiency. They can be successfully designed for low, medium and high voltage operations. DigiPower has already fully developed “in-house” all HW and SW parts of its prototype of multilevel converter up to 97 levels.

Industrial application
power converters for renewable energy, smart grids, e-mobility, electrical drives, industry applications, robotics etc.
Advantage factor
While conventional power converters implement two level operations, i.e. they switch voltage between 0 and V_max, MMCs produce staircase outputs (or inputs) where each stair is a small fraction of V_max: this greatly improves harmonics contents, eliminate distorted waveforms, reduce losses, heating, stress, torque and frequency pulsations and other negative effects as well, they don’t need expensive and bulky transformers and filters, necessary to fulfill standards and to improve operations.
Proposal cooperation
Know-how transfer; IPR assignment; Venture capital financing; Industrial partnership
